in this section we would like to answer the most common questions who might come to your mind.
First, the whole logistics, touristical programme, vehicle selection, upgrading and installation is done by professionals with many years of experience. For your confidence, we give you a glimpse how this are working in Libya.
- Before arrival: We need a copy of your passport 2 weeks before flight day and you need to get an arabic translation into your passport. The Translation can be obtained from a trusted and licensed arabic translation in your home country. Please call the libyan embassy in your country, they can name you always a translator. Also PLANET DUNES is very willing to assist you on this step. Your payment and your security deposit must arrive on our company account 1 week in advance of arrival day. You recieve 4 days before arrival a copy of your visa approval by email to check in smoothly on you plane.
- The Arrival: After arrival with any plane at Tripoli international Airport in Libya, you are recieved by a driver and your tourguide in Tripoli Airport. You check out with your luggage. Depending on your arrival hour, you can spend a half day in Tripoli leaving your luggage in our Tripoli office and explore the city on your own. We have directions where to find points of interest in Tripoli, where you get the best sandwiches in town and where the best coffee, tea and shisha is waiting for you. Late arrival means few hours waiting for your connection flight. Anyhow, you have someone recieving you at the airport and you can call anytime our Tripoli Office. Connection flight is always the same evening at 20:00 to Sebha and organized by PLANET DUNES.
- Arriving in Sebha is around 22:00-23:00 at the Sebha National Airport. A Mini Bus brings you immediately to your Hotel for a quick rexation of the trip (service free of charge).
- First Day in the Dunes: The Programme for the first day is like this:
Our Shuttle bus picks you up at your Hotel.
07:45 and brings you to our Desert Base Station. Welcome ceremony and inspection of your "Horse Mechanique", then Introduction in the Briefing Room.
08:30 You change your dress in our locker room and lock the not required things in our safe storage rooms. You receive full riding gear including helmet, googles, gloves, Vertibra Protector with safety equipment.
08:45 packing your personal things your want to carry with you on your ATV.
09:00 On our Parcours you make the first riding experience to get a feeling for your new "Horse"
09:30 Start into the desert and the first 90 KM to Camp Africa close to Tkerkiba.
18:00 arrival after a easy and safe day on your ATV in Camp Africa. Camping Ground and service Vehicle from our organization waits here and have dinner prepared. - General informations: We have Thuraya Satellite Phone with us which is accessible for you. During the Morning, the lunch break and the evening you can use this phone as long as you want. Charge per minute: 1,20€. Half of the time we have mobile phone coverage and you can use your own mobile phone too. We supply each ATV also with a Libyana Sim Card for your mobile phone. You have in this way a personal mobule phone number, which works most as close as 10 KM to the main road. Please remind to take a 12 Volt Charge for your mobile phone with you! The daily driving range is between 90 km - 280 km.
Cash exchange:
for your convinience we remind you to change 100€ at the Tripoli Airport in local currency Libyan Dinar. In Sebha is no cash exchange available, and the only ATM machines you find at the Tripoli Airport. - After your return
We supply you with copies of all Pictures saved to our navigation Computer and a nice slideshow for your PC and homepage. You get also a certificate for your office wall declaring your participation in one of the PLANET DUNES Desert Brigades, the Pioneers, the Contrebandiers and the Desert Rangers.
